The FUTURO organization has contributed a lot to fueling my passion to learn more about
diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. It has connected me with like-minded
individuals who want to do more for their community and grow professionally.
Not only was this journey impactful, but also transformative in many ways. A significant part of
my experience was learning how to market my personal brand, which I had struggled with
initially. However, as I continued to contribute to the organization, it was like a light bulb in my
head that made me realize advocating for these values had given me a sense of direction and
purpose as I move forward.
Additionally, last semester, I joined the Fast Track Program, an extensive 8-week program
focused on guiding students through their college-to-career transition. We had the privilege of
interacting with industry professionals who provided insights into setting goals and securing a
job after college. This also meant taking a good look at our personal resumes and goals with our
mentors to identify areas for improvement.
All of these things I have learned so far such as dealing with burnout, building confidence and
creating financial habits have been critical in my journey to find a career after college. It has
allowed me to pursue something more than just a job but rather a passion for teaching and
inspiring those around me. I have seen myself grow more confident during interviews and have
even learned to ask the right questions so I can choose the company that aligns with my
FUTURO vision.
Having a supportive community that motivates you to do better and make meaningful
connections is one of the best ways to have a productive college experience. No matter your
background, I would definitely recommend joining a FUTURO chapter on campus because
you’ll have an exceptional experience joining our “Familia”!
